Over the last year, Preservation Long Island’s achievements included bringing a new name to life and creating synergistic programs based on our three principal areas of activity – advocacy, education, and stewardship.

Our latest gallery exhibition, Collecting Long Island and Howard Sherwood: Preserving Long Island, provided the content for enhanced programs at the Sherwood-Jayne Farm. We also engaged a substantial online audience of nearly 4000 followers on Facebook and Instagram by introducing a 360o Virtual Tour of Joseph Lloyd Manor and launched a digital database to make our wonderful collections more broadly accessible. Most recently, we  completed our latest publication, Elias Pelletreau: Long Island Silversmith and Entrepreneur, 1726–1810, which is yet another significant contribution by our organization to the advanced study of Long Island’s material culture.

In the coming year our supporters can look forward to more “Preservation in Progress” tours that highlight the good work of our preservation colleagues and the development of new interpretive exhibits and educational programs at our historic houses.
