Preservation Long Island’s Howard C. Sherwood Award was established in 1974 in honor of our founder and is reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional, life-time achievement in historic preservation.
Huyler C. Held Award
Established in in 2013 to honor a long-time supporter of Preservation Long Island’s publication programs, The Huyler C. Held Award distinguishes excellence in the publication of Long Island history, architecture, and the decorative arts.
Our Preservation Awards are presented in alternating years to recognize the outstanding achievements of individuals, organizations, and projects that demonstrate excellence in historic preservation including stewardship, restoration, adaptive reuse, design, advocacy, and partnership.
