Here is a sampling of Preservation Long Island’s completed and ongoing projects that advance our mission to celebrate and preserve Long Island’s diverse cultural and architectural heritage:

Jupiter Hammon Project: This initiative included stakeholder meetings and interactive workshops to further explore ways to reinterpret our Joseph Lloyd Manor House, including an exhibition and audio-visual installations.

The Long Island Furniture Project: A multiyear and multi-format initiative to increase knowledge and accessibility to furniture made on Long Island, ca. 1660–1860. The project includes the launch of our digitized furniture collection, and exhibition that will be accompanied by a catalog featuring extended object labels and scholarly essays. By bringing these objects to light, we hope to engage the public, spark an interest in historic furnishings, and prompt further research into the Island’s furniture-making traditions.

Historic House Improvements:  Ongoing management and maintenance of our four historic properties, as well as special restoration and infrastructure projects such as the installation of new HVAC systems, accessibility ramps, and other essential enhancements.

Your Preservation Long Island membership validates our mission and helps us to move forward in our efforts to advance greater understanding, celebration, and preservation of Long Island’s cultural and architectural heritage.

THANK YOU!
