New Exhibition Opening July 2nd
Organized as part of Preservation Long Island’s 250th anniversary celebrations, this exhibition explores a rich cross-section of Long Island society before the Civil War. Discover how Long Islanders across two centuries made and used furniture to engage with the wider world.
Thanks to a digitization grant from the Long Island Libraries Resources Council, we cataloged and photographed over 230 pieces of furniture across our historic properties. The full collection is now free to explore online.
This issue spotlights the inns and taverns of Revolutionary Long Island along with a feature on tall ships and the Bicentennial. Tall ships will once again grace Long Island’s waters for the nation’s 250th anniversary. Updates on local preservation efforts and recent local National Register listings are also included in this latest edition.
