✨ Preservation Long Island Announces 2024 Awards for Preservation Excellence! ✨
Presented every other year, our awards recognize individuals, organizations, and projects that demonstrate extraordinary achievements in historic preservation on Long Island.
🏆 Congratulations to this year's awardees from Setauket, Mattituck, Sag Harbor, Fort Salonga, and Garden City:
🔹The Safina Center – For restoring the Hawkins-Elzon House in the Old Setauket Historic District, now serving as their headquarters.
🔹 Anthony Martignetti – For restoring the Mattituck Creek Tide Mill, soon to reopen as a restaurant in Spring 2025.
🔹@TheChurchSag Harbor – An inspiring adaptive reuse of a 19th-century Methodist church into a vibrant arts and cultural hub.
🔹 Suffolk County Legislature – For preserving Owl Hill in Fort Salonga, safeguarding the 1907 mansion and 27 acres of open space from redevelopment.
🔹 Posthumous Howard C. Sherwood Award: Brian Pinnola – Celebrating his lifetime dedication to historic preservation in Garden City and across Long Island.

You need to preserve the Walt Whitman schoolhouse on Singer Lane in Smithtown. Make it like it once was. It's empty now, a shame.
