Preservation Long Island and the Caribbean American Poetry Association are thrilled to invite students in grades 6-12 across Long Island to share original poems as part of our 2025 Juneteenth Poetry Celebration in honor of Jupiter Hammon (1711-c. 1806), recognized as the first published Black American poet. Poems must be submitted in advance.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the landmark publication, Long Island is My Nation: The Decorative Arts and Craftsmen, 1640–1830, we are seeking a curatorial fellow to take a leading role in a multi-format project focused on the study and interpretation of early Long Island furniture (ca. 1640–ca. 1860).
