Our Exhibition Gallery in the Old Methodist Episcopal Church building is a stop on the Victorian Holiday Walking Tours program hosted by The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor on selected weekends in December!
On Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 17, the Exhibition Gallery will be open from 12 noon to 5 pm for tour participants and the public to step inside and view art and artifacts from our permanent collection that reveal four centuries of life on Long Island. Admission to our Exhibition Gallery is free.
The church building located on Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor, which now serves as our headquarters and gallery, was constructed in 1842 by Israel Valentine during the heyday of whaling on a site acquired from Judge Richard M. Conklin, one of the partners in the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Company. “Santa Claus” made an appearance at the church back in 1885!
Walking Tours are offered at 3pm and 5pm. $15 Participant and $10 Whaling Museum Member Participant.
On walking tour days we are offering 20-50% off our collection of books on display in the gallery! Our publications about Long Island history, architecture, and design are the perfect holiday gift for the history buffs on your list.
A Preservation Long Island Individual or Family 2024 Membership is also a unique gift idea that comes with the added benefit of supporting historic preservation on Long Island!
Our books and totes are available to browse and buy through our online shop. Visit our Membership page for details about member benefits and to purchase a membership for yourself or give one as a gift to others.
