Preservation Long Island’s significant collection of furniture made and used on Long Island is now available to explore online.

Over the past year, Preservation Long Island cataloged and photographed more than 230 pieces of furniture located across its five historic properties. This work was made possible through a generous digitization grant from the Long Island Library Resources Council. Grant funds allowed PLI to purchase advanced photography equipment and a dedicated laptop for fieldwork.

After months of careful research, photography, and cataloging, the entire furniture collection is now freely accessible on the New York Heritage website, opening new opportunities for research, education, and discovery! This launch is part of Preservation Long Island’s Long Island Furniture Project, and our ongoing commitment to access and preservation, ensuring these important objects and the stories they tell are accessible to a broader audience.
