This year’s Preservation Workshop is focused on how historic houses can be successfully marketed, sold, renovated, and stewarded on Long Island. The program will be geared toward realtors, homeowners, and prospective buyers interested in historic properties.

A central theme will be how thoughtful design and renovation can make historic houses comfortable, functional, and livable for modern life while preserving the character that makes them special. The workshop will explore both the opportunities and challenges associated with these buildings—from traditional historic houses to mid-century and modern architecture, which has been a particular challenge in the regional real estate market. Topics will include strategies for marketing historic properties, understanding architectural significance, navigating incentives such as historic tax credits, and connecting buyers and homeowners with the resources needed to successfully rehabilitate historic properties.
