Join Preservation Long Island on Tuesday, August 13th at our Headquarters for a special lecture and book signing with Emmy® Award-winning filmmaker and author Jake Gorst, who will discuss the remarkable life and work of his grandfather, architect Andrew Geller.
Known for his whimsical and iconic modernist beach houses, Geller also made a lasting impact through his design work at the Raymond Loewy firm, including his influence on the Lord & Taylor brand. In Andrew Geller: Deconstructed, Gorst draws on two decades of research, interviews, and archival material to present a vivid portrait of an artist driven by a passion for beauty and innovation. Geller’s architectural legacy is particularly prominent on Long Island, where his sculptural beach houses—such as the Pearlroth House in Westhampton Beach and the Hunt House on Fire Island—are innovative examples of mid-century modernism . He also contributed to the design of the Leisurama homes in Montauk, a series of affordable prefabricated houses marketed through Macy’s in the 1960s . Don’t miss this opportunity to explore Geller’s creative legacy and meet the author behind the definitive volume on this architectural icon.

Books will be available for sale for $25 at the event.
