The American Revolution reshaped lives across Long Island, including at Joseph Lloyd Manor on Lloyd Neck. This commemorative tour of the historic house will explore the British occupation of Lloyd Neck, skirmishes on the Long Island Sound, the experiences of Loyalist and Patriot refugees, and the struggle for liberty that defined the lives of Jupiter Hammon and other enslaved Americans. Participants will also learn about the site’s surprising connections to major figures of the revolutionary era, including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and Aaron Burr.
