Preservation Long Island Curator Lauren Brincat recently toured Newsday TV through Joseph Lloyd Manor, sharing Jupiter Hammon’s story, and the site’s history of enslavement. New installations that focus on Hammon’s life and poetry were also featured.

Jupiter Hammon, considered the first published African American poet, was one of the many people of African descent enslaved at the Manor located in Lloyd Harbor, New York.
