In recognition of Black History Month, Northport-East Northport Public Library will host Preservation Director Sarah Kautz to discuss Preservation Long Island’s continuing work on the Jupiter Hammon Project. Hammon, who lived as an enslaved person at Lloyd Manor, was a founder of African-American literature. His poem authored in 1760 was the first to be published by an African-American born in North America.
