#MyLongIslandLandmarks, was inspired by an Instagram hashtag. We reached out to the community asking for depictions of favorite Long Island landmarks to encourage them to think about Long Island as a place of history and cultural connection. What resulted was a wonderful assemblage of well-known historic “landmarks” as well as Long Island places that, on the surface, may seem ordinary but become meaningful once their stories are known. Franklin Hill Perrell of The Artful Circle curated the exhibition featuring stand-out hashtag submissions along with selected works by local artists who used Long Island as their subject.
