Preservation Long Island’s Apple Festival has been a long-standing tradition at the Sherwood-Jayne Farm since 1990. During this current state of transition, the Apple Festival has been put on hiatus but Preservation Long Island continues to celebrate, educate, and support our local community. This year, in partnership with the Brookhaven Township, Preservation Long Island will host its annual Apple Pie Contest at the Longwood Fair.
Apples have been a part of Long Island’s history for centuries. Harvested as a meal, stored as provisions, and fermented into cider, apples are one of the most versatile crops, appreciated by countless generations. Bakers are invited to slice, dice, and bake your best apple pie paying homage to this delicious treat! All bakers must pre-register by September 24, 2021.
