If it were full time I’d be back in a flash!! 😭

Check out our Instagram throughout #BlackHistoryMonth! We’ll be sharing highlights from our Jupiter Hammon Project roundtables. Back in 2020, we invited esteemed scholars and professionals to discuss the life of one of America’s earliest published Black authors, Jupiter Hammon and Long Islands legacy of enslavement through a series of moderated conversations.

The major topics explored were Long Island in the Black Atlantic World, the voice of Jupiter Hammon, and confronting slavery at Joseph Lloyd Manor in Lloyd Harbor, NY. All three roundtable discussions are available for viewing on our website!

Many thanks to Alistair Wright, a senior at Friends Academy in Glen Cove, New York and a Preservation Long Island 2022 Summer Intern, for putting the Instagram posts together! Friends Academy
