What was life like in a 19th-Century coastal village when many of the men were out at sea? Travel back in time and explore the lives of local women as you stroll down Cold Spring Harbor’s Historic Main Street in this educator-led walking tour. Discover the struggles these women faced, along with the challenges historians have when reconstructing their stories. The Preservation Long Island Exhibition Gallery located in the historic Old Methodist Church will be a featured stop on the tour!
- Meet at the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum’s gallery. You may use free street parking by the museum (279 Main Street), or use the free Main Street parking lot a 5-minute walk away (located 90-126 Main Street, next to the Cold Spring Harbor Post Office.) If you park by the lot, your return walk back to the museum will be shorter.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour lasts approximately 45 min-1hour.
- Bring an umbrella in case of light rain.
